We went to our second USDAA trial, this time in Murfreesboro, TN and we loved it! The courses were quite difficult this time, seemed much harder than our first trial. We ended up with 4 Q's, our Starter Jumpers title, 5 first places, 5 second places, 1 third place and 1 fourth place! I think my favorite non-standard run was the relay race where we had to do half a course and then pass the baton on to our teammates who completed the rest of the course. We ended up getting first place and our partner was a cute little terrier named Daisy. Nari was much faster this trial which was great but also quite challenging. She's never been that great at distance work but I entered us in Gamblers anyway and she even completed half of a gamble! I had to send her from a jump to a tunnel that was about 10 feet away and from the tunnel over two more jumps. She made it into the tunnel and then came running and screaming out of it (yes, she was screaming) towards me wondering why in the world I wasn't waiting for her at the exit of that tunnel. It was pretty funny. She loves going to trials because she gets to hang out with just me and we get to stay in a hotel. Her sisters were quite happy when we got home on Sunday. Nari was so tired, she was such a hard worker this weekend, I was so proud of her! Here is a picture of her with her ribbons and also the beads they gave us for each Q.

Flyball practice!
Starbuck has been taking flyball lessons for the past couple of weeks. So far she really seems to like it. Took her a while to go after a tennis ball, but after I stuffed them full of treats she decided that tennis balls were the best. She also loves the jumps! I finally got Aaron to come along so we could get some pictures and video. Here is a picture of her practicing her box turn.
I kind of like this picture because it just looks like Starbuck is super fast! Here is a shot movie I made of Starbuck's practice:
Great - most of the video is of my butt!
And here is what a lot of the pictures looked like because the lighting was bad (I think Aaron is looking for an excuse to buy a new flash for his camera).

Nari is a Champion!
We went to the UKC Carolina Classic on April 2-3 in Hickory, NC. Nari got her last competition win so she is now UAGI CH PR' Del Mar's Lil Apocalypse (awaiting UKC confirmation). We loved the show, everyone was super nice and the girls loved meeting everyone. They also got to try terrier racing so it is now their favorite show! Here are a couple of pictures from the show.

Nari loves guarding the house!
The girls love looking out the front window and alerting us every time a dog or other animal walks past our house. Well, today Nari decided that her guarding duties would be much more fun if she had a toy mouse in her mouth! She was even barking and talking with that mouse in her mouth - such a crazy girl!
And here is a cute picture I took of a tired little Alpha resting in her bed:

Alaskan Klee Kai Terrier Racing?
We went to the UKC Carolina Classic this past weekend. They had conformation, Terrier Racing and Weight Pull. The UKC Terrier Racing judge for the event was super friendly and stopped by to meet our girls. I took Nari outside to watch the Terrier Races and she loved watching it and immediately wanted to run after the lure even though I was holding her in my arms. The judge stopped by to talk to us around lunch time on Saturday and invited us to run in a couple of their practice races! For the first race, we held Starbuck and Nari in front of the boxes and released them when the lure took off. They immediately started chasing that lure and even followed it right through the hole at the end of the course! For the second race, I placed Starbuck and Nari into the terrier boxes, waved the lure in front of the boxes and then they lifted up the gates. At first the girls ran around in a little circle because they were confused but then they saw the rabbit lure and took off after it! They loved it and actually did better than many of the terriers that were learning how to race (many refused to follow the lure through the whole at the end of the course). The judge mentioned that they might have a non-sanctioned race at the next UKC Carolina Classic that would be open to non-terriers. That would be so much fun!!! Can't wait for the next time the girls get to try Terrier Racing. Here is a video of their races:
